Intention to Hold a National HAUC(UK) Conference in 2012

Following a survey of HAUC colleagues earlier in the year, there was overwhelming support for a national conference in 2012. Therefore, after last year's very successful event in Scotland (and the previous year's events in Cardiff), HAUC(UK) have begun preparations for a one-day conference in London - date and venue to be advised. The current intention is that the event will be free to delegates. This message is to enable potential delegates to make budgetary provision to attend and to alert any potential exhibitors who might be interested in attending.

HAUC(UK) hope to be able to provide more information at the end of January.

 VAULT LAUNCH

A media launch event will be held on 20 March at 9am at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel, Edinburgh. This will involve senior figures from both the utilities sector and roads authorities. All of the major media organisations will also be invited.

There will be an introduction from the Scottish Road Works Commissioner, a "live" demonstration hopefully using a handheld device, an explanation of the benefits from a figure from a utility company and an endorsement from the Minister for Housing and Transport. Following this there will be an opportunity for the media to interview the attendees.

VAULT will use the Scottish Road Works Register as a platform on which electronically held underground pipe and cable records of the major utility companies and roads authorities will be made instantly available on digital maps to the key organisations involved in road works in Scotland.
