Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 aims to make information held by public authorities more accessible and allows you to request a wide variety of material.

The Office of the Scottish Road Works Commissioner, like other Scottish public authorities, is legally bound to comply with the requirements which came into force on 1 January 2005.

The aim of the Publication Scheme is to provide guidance to the public on what information is available from the Office of the Scottish Road Works Commissioner and how to obtain it. Some of the information may be formally published either as printed documents or via our web site.

Section 12 describes in detail the classes of information with a detailed description of the document, format and costing.

Making a Freedom of Information Request

Before you make a Freedom of Information request, you may want to check whether the information you are seeking is already published by us. You can do this by checking the  Publication Scheme. Our scheme has been approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner who is responsible for the enforcement of the Act. In addition as required by the Act, we will review the scheme from time to time. In adopting (or reviewing) our publication scheme, we are required to have regard to the public interest in:

  • allowing public access to information we hold; and
  • the publication of reasons for the decisions we make.

If you wish to request information held in the Scottish Road Works Register then please contact us directly. For further details of what is contained within the SRWR please Click Here.
