This document details a Scottish Data Transfer Format (SDTF) specification (version 1.0) for operation with the OneScotland Gazetteer following the publication of BS 7666:2006 and the Scottish Gazetteer Conventions.

This document presents conventions for Scottish property and street gazetteers. It is written primarily for and by staff who are responsible for creating and maintaining these datasets within each of the 32 Scottish local authorities.

The aim of these conventions is to ensure that gazetteer data are maintained to a consistent standard across Scotland and are usable regionally and nationally.

Local Street Gazetteers in Scotland - Summary Guide to Requirements for National Partnership Projects

Under the provisions of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, all Scottish Councils are required to provide information on all public roads in their area for the Scottish Road Works Register. This information must be in the format specified in BS7666 for a National Street Gazetteer (NSG) and will become the Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) for the Council's area.Each Council must also use this Local Street Gazetteer as the index for their Corporate Address Gazetteer (CAG) developed under the DNA Scotland partnership programme funded from the Modernising Government Fund. SRWR National Street Gazetteer Self Service System

The Gazetteer Self Service process has been implemented for live operation.  This facility provides organisations that have a responsibility to submit gazetteers and AOI information with the tools to interactively validate their data prior to formal submission.
