Home > OSRWC - Office of the Scottish Road Works Commissioner
The purpose of the Office of the Commissioner is to work with the road works community to oversee improvements to the planning, co-ordination and quality of road works in Scotland. I was appointed as the Commissioner in July 2007, and my office is based at Saughton House, Edinburgh.
As well as providing information about who we are and what we do, this website provides both the general public and the road works community with a resource whereby the most up to date information on road works issues is available.
Road works often come in for a bad press, but the reality is that they are a necessary fact of life if we wish to have well maintained, safe road networks and to continue to enjoy essential services such as gas, water, electricity and telecommunications. That said, in order to minimise their impact road works need to be well planned, well coordinated and well executed and my role in monitoring and promoting compliance and good practice will assist in producing year on year improvements.
